Sunrise, Sunset

When you are on vacation, you have the time to enjoy things that you don’t when at home.  Simple things.  Like sunrises and sunsets.

This first photo is of a sunset in Agay, France.  It is a little town on the Cote D’Azur.  I am fortunate to be married to a man whose has French relatives that vacation at this spot every year.    When we are able to visit, we are welcomed with love (lots of cheek kisses), sumptuous meals (I love you Valerie #1) and endless views of the Mediterranean.

Sunset at Agay

There are a few moments each evening when the sharp line of the horizon disappears into a blur.  I cannot describe this wash of color other than as a feeling.  Words like tranquility and serenity fit.  There are not enough moments in life like this.

The next photo is of a sunrise in Nice, France. We had an early morning flight home. The sky was still dark when we boarded the plane.  But a few minutes after takeoff, my daughter was nudging me with her camera in hand. She said something like “Does this make you think of God?”  I answered “It makes me think of heaven.”  One day later her Uncle Rick died in a car crash.  Rick, these photos are dedicated to you.  May you rest in peace.
