Need My Angels

We are already two months into 2021 and I haven’t seen an angel yet. San Diego weather is perfect for angel hunting right now: sunny with a light breeze. Is that breeze from an angel’s wings you might ask?

I had two requirements for my search. One, a cemetery I haven’t visited before. Two, it needed to be within an hour drive from my house. I was thrilled to find the Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. This is a sprawling place with rolling hills, mature trees, and easy paths to meander on.

Now, for the angels – I found some beautiful angels to share with you. The first one is my favorite. I love the tenderness of her placing the wreath on the cross and how the rays of sunlight filter down on her.

This next angel appears to be writing in a book. The tree behind her provides a nice backdrop.

I had to stop and admire the detail on the wings of this angel resting on a tombstone.

There was a large section of the cemetery devoted to Jesus statues. This one, in particular, stood out depicting Jesus as a shepherd with his lambs.

Lastly, I don’t know what this is. It kind of freaks me out. I assume it is someone (Mary?) holding baby Jesus. Check out the man face on that baby.

If you are local, take a drive to this lovely memorial park. It is well laid out for walking and exploring.
