One of Those Days

It was a day that brought the words of Roseanne Roseannadanna to mind, “It just goes to show you, it’s always something.”

The day started great. The rain had stopped, and my bowling team was going to practice that afternoon. About an hour before our meeting time, I heard the neighbor kids jumping on their trampoline…not in school. Oh yeah, MLK Day. A quick call to the bowling alley revealed that the place was packed, and we wouldn’t be able to get a lane.

With some extra time in my schedule, I decided to try out a bakery a friend has been raving out. Something looked wrong as soon as I got there. They had lost their electricity and were out of most items. If I wanted to try it again, I’d have to get there early in the morning.

Ever the optimist, I’d just my take my pretzel to the beach. We’ve had a bunch of storms, and I wanted to check out the big waves. I climbed up the rock jetty and enjoyed the waves crashing and the wind swirling. As I made my trip back to the sand, I noticed the sea gulls hovering around something that looked like a log. I walked around it and almost cried when I saw the face of a dead seal.

So the bad luck hat trick of my day was complete. The rest of my day would be fine.
