Reflections on 2022

After a long writing journey, my novel was published in early 2022. It has been an exciting year for Lost in The Ark. Some of the highlights include:

Being interviewed by the San Diego Union Tribune

Reading the reviews on Goodreads and Amazon*

Participating in my first book fair

Being a finalist in a couple of book contests

Having my novel shelved in local libraries

Attending book club meetings

And the most rewarding highlight of all? Attending book clubs! As a member of a book club that’s been together for over 20 years, I have come to realize that not all book clubs operate the way mine does. Typically, we answer about a dozen prepared questions specific to the book we’ve read.

This is not standard book club protocol. Perhaps because my novel is based on some of my life experiences, I’ve found readers do not want to talk about the characters in my novel. They want to talk about me. The two most common questions are:  what was my experience in the Bible cult and what do I believe now. It has been fascinating.

Thank you to family and friends who have been on this journey with me. Without your support, publishing my novel would not have been as rewarding as it has been.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!

*If you’ve read Lost in The Ark and haven’t left a review yet, it’s not too late. Reader reviews greatly help my rankings on Amazon.
