Stuck in a River

A few years ago, I wrote about a weird phenomenon called earworm. It’s when a song gets stuck in your head and plays in an endless loop. It seems to effect women more than men and is very irritating. The cure is to “change the channel” so that another song takes its place.

The song I’m having trouble with now is one my daughter introduced me to. She was right when she thought I’d love “River” by Bishop Briggs. Bishop Briggs is a British musician and singer-songwriter.

Not only are the lyrics catchy, but the beat of the song makes it doubly addictive. Here’s the part that is stuck in my head:

Shut your mouth, baby stand and deliver
Holy hands, oh they make me a sinner
Like a river, like a river
Shut your mouth and run me like a river

Choke this love till the veins start to shiver
One last breath till the tears start to wither
Like a river, like a river
Shut your mouth and run me like a river

Of course the first time I heard it, I went to YouTube to watch the official music video. It was disturbing and it goes without saying the lyrics are a bit gritty too. Instead of attaching the official link, I found one with some talented women dancing to the song.

Enjoy and beware of the earworm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pHYxx9dY_U
